Annähernd 240 Millionen Baht waren von der Provinzregierung bereitgestellt worden, um auf der Insel 1.000 kostenlose WiFi-Hotspots zu installieren. Laut dem Gouverneur ist das Projekt jetzt abgeschlossen und Phuket ist die erste Provinz, die flächendeckend einen solchen Service anbietet. In der Stadt Phuket, an den meisten Stränden und im Saphan Hin Park gibt es jetzt kostenlosen Zugang zum Internet. Insbesondere die Touristen werden sich darüber freuen, dass sie auf der ganzen Insel mit ihren Laptops oder Smartphones kostenlos ins Internet gelangen.
